the mighty foam strength…

double breve latte

so – trapped inside from an unforeseen ice storm in the middle of Dallas, a little cabin fever set in and so i trekked out on foot into the Icepocalypse with my beloved sidekick and partner in crime (my 15 year old daughter) to Starbucks and indulged in the greatest, most scrumpdillyicious breve latte…

the foam was that strong and that fan-farking-tastic, that the straw stood up by itself.

potato…with a halo

potato with a halo in a latte

i have a whole series of images about mysterious shapes that appear accidentally in my lattes.
i say &#39accidentally,&#39 because most of them happen in Starbucks, where in fact they are:

a) NOT allowed to do coffee art

b) their equipment has become homogenized (pardon the pun) to the point that it does not produce the right foamy conditions to be able to do so (according to my secret sources!)

with that being said…sometimes the milk defies the odds and a shape appears. this one, as named by barista and cool guy Milan, is titled:

&#34potato with a halo.&#34

it doesn&#39t take a lot to keep me entertained.

saving the world…before bedtime

Powerpuff Girls tattoo

saving the world…before bedtime! dum-dum-da-da-da-dum dum! (queue theme song)

i have to admit, i completely geeked out when i ran into this guy (a total stranger, of course) in a parking lot of a Starbucks. (um, hmmm…perhaps Starbucks should be a sponsor of this blog, given how much inspiro and content i seem to glean from going there!?) are you listening, Starbucks?

you must understand that i LOVE the Powerpuff Girls. always have. you know why? because…they kick ass and TAKE NAMES. while still keeping their sweet demeanor. something to learn from that…something to aspire to. yes, i realize i just ended a sentence in a preposition, but…
deal with it!!! &#34Take that, you giant fish balloon!!&#34 (That was very Powerpuff Girls-like of me to assert that, wasn&#39t it?)

pretty sure i most identify with Blossom (the redhead). not as sugary and innocent as Bubbles…and not quite as hardass as Buttercup (although i do love her cute little tomboy style). Blossom: the leader. the voice of reason.¬†yep, i&#39m Blossom. for sure. monster-conquering strategist, and peacekeeper of the group.

i could not believe my eyes when this guy had the whole City of Townsville, all the villains (The Gangreen Gang! Him!) and the Mayor himself (!) on his arm. What an investment. His girlfriend, standing off camera, was covered from head to toe in tattoos…but hers were very piecemeal and visually random – and therefore didn&#39t move me like this did.

Genndy Tartakovsky (the creator of the series, and the genius that also did Dexter&#39s Laboratory & Samurai Jack)…i salute you.

oh, and if you haven&#39t seen the Powerpuff Girls Movie…you need to.

love that…entrepreneurial spirit

ran into a Starbucks, like a blogging superhero into a phone booth, ready to fly through some posts – and ran into this guy.

love his entrepreneurial spirit…and the fact that he knew exactly where his captured audience already was.

not to mention his badass jacket.

actually, i should have offered his price for the jacket – not the laptop.

sound byte

so…you’re a human enthusiast.

-ernesto, last name unknown, who works for – who overheard my conversation at a nearby table at a starbucks at mockingbird station, and jumped in – at which point a woman nearby got up out of her chair, made a beeline to our chair cluster after overhearing us all; and also jumped in
